The Apple MacBook 2.4GHz 15.4 inch Unibody uses DDR3 PC3-8500 204 Pin SODIMMS running at 1066MHZ. The maximum memory allowed for this particular MacBook Pro is 6GB and this model ships standard with 2GB. There are 2 memory upgrade banks available with one memory upgrade slot on each bank. Both memory banks are filled when shipped from the factory, so you will have to replace the factory installed memory with a larger capacity memory module. Both slots must have memory installed. Possible configurations are 3GB, 4GB and 6GB for this computer. I suggest using the 4GB or 6GB option.

Crucial Technology offers 2GB memory modules priced at $44.99, and 4GB memory upgrade kits priced at $79.99. You save a small percentage by going with the memory upgrade kits as opposed to buying 2×2GB Memory modules.

Edge Tech Corp is one vendor that offers a 6GB memory upgrade for this computer, but it’s not cheap at $501.91. Unless you’ve got deep pockets or need to squeeze every last bit of performance out of your MacBook Pro, I suggest the 4GB kit at a much more reasonable $105.13. If you just want to upgrade one of the memory banks, you could go to 3GB with a 2GB module which is priced at $52.57

4AllMemory carries just 1 and 2GB memory modules for this particular MacBook Pro model. The 2GB is the only size that’s really interesting as you could order 2 at $59.99 each to get 4GB in this MacBook Pro model. No 6GB option is available from this vendor

Memory Suppliers carries just 1GB and 2GB memory upgrades for this MacBook, and like 4AllMemory, the only module that really is of any interest is the 2GB module at $49.00 each. Buying two of these will get you 4GB of RAM for your MacBook Pro for under $100.
